Web Design and Toast?

Posted by Erik M. Cunningham - August 28, 2006

Erik M. Cunningham

I’m sure there are better names out there for web design blogs but I thought this title fitting since my goal is to have web designers read it with breakfast and their morning paper.

Why blog you ask? For reasons both intrinsic and extrinsic. I love web design. I love seeing creative sites that other designers have put together and evaluating the different styles and technologies they’ve used to do so. I love that the web design industry is, and always will be, a dynamic field. Design trends and Internet technologies are constantly changing and evolving. To some, keeping up with these changes might be a chore. To me, they are a constant reminder that my job will never become stagnant or boring unless I let it. So my intrinsic reason for blogging, is to share my web design ideas with the industry and HEAR the ideas of others in my field.

My extrinsic reason for blogging? Many bloggers would like you to think that they post purely for “peace on earth” type reasons. The reality is, that to spend my time designing and writing instead of digging ditches, I have to be able to pay my rent. That said, I blog to network, to share ideas, to organize my thoughts and to see if I can drum up a little web traffic for my web design and hosting business.

My associate, Sam Pullenza, and I will be posting and monitoring this web design blog on a daily or weekly basis. So please feel free to comment and share your ideas, your discoveries, links to your sites and others. If your input displays merit, we’ll publish it!
